Industrial sewage treatment is the most complex sector within the world of water treatment - generalisations are not valid, and only solid experience in this field can guarantee good results.

Many factors must coincide in the study of industrial sewage treatment plants - the water to be treated must be studied beforehand. It must be a study of the possibilities of being reused and tests on a pilot plant; and a wide knowledge of the sector and the type of water to be treated is necessary.

Below you will find a list of different sectors in which Depurnord has experience and also the most common processes used for the treatment:

Sectors:
  • Slaughterhouses
  • Tanneries
  • Textile industry
  • Galvanic baths
  • Paints
  • Food industry
  • Bottling plants
  • Wine industry
  • Cosmetics industry
  • Chemical industry
  • Pharmaceutical industry

Different processes can be used to treat water, depending on the type of water. These are the most important ones and the ones in which DEPURNORD S.A. is specialised:

Processes:

  • Neutralisation
  • Oxidation reduction
  • Physical-chemical treatments
  • Physical-chemical treatments
  • Biological treatments
  • Denitrification treatments
  • Flotation
Dissolved Air Flotation

Since the 1980s, DEPURNORD, S.A. has developed dissolved air flotation techniques for industrial sewage treatment. Its use is specially recommended for cases with large amount of oil and fat in the water.

The flotation techniques applied to wastewater are feasible when the nature of the suspended matter present in the water causes problems for sedimentation.
They can be applied as a pre-treatment system, acting as a fat separator or they can be used after a physical-chemical treatment, replacing conventional settling tanks.

Main uses:

  • Agri-food industries (slaughterhouses, dairy, meat, canning).
  • Paper industries.
  • Textile and tanning industries.
  • Chemical and cosmetics industries.

One of the main advantages of flotation equipment is that it is small and it takes up little space. This makes it easy to incorporate it into new projects or to add to existing ones.

The use of pressurisers to make microbubbles enables a stronger separation than other flotation processes.

Flotation units are compact - we have standardised equipment for flows from 2 to 100 m³/h, rectangular and circular, and we can study solutions for larger flows.
